Welllll, first off, your engagement session is a great excuse to have a DATE NIGHT!!! A romantic night out can’t be underestimated in the middle of your wedding planning. You can use this opportunity to connect with your future spouse. Slow life down for an evening. A time for just you and your most treasured person. You really can’t go wrong with this mindset.
Beyond a romantic night (or morning out), as your storyteller, I have three specific goals for every engagement session.
Get to know one another:
One of the reasons we plan an engagement session together is for you to get to know me, and for me to get to know you! Let’s face it, we’re going to be spending a lot of time together on your big day–and you want to know that we’ll be a great fit! We’ll walk away from your engagement session as new friends, so when it comes to your wedding day, when I show up, it’ll be like meeting an old friend again!
Get to know my style:
You’ve seen my portfolio of photos and I know you’re confident that we’ll capture magic on your wedding day, but a lot of couples wonder just how that happens. Many couples feel nervous to be the center of attention and wonder, “How will I look in photos? How will we look together?” I’ve heard more times than I can count, “I’m going to look so awkward!” But an engagement session is a great time for you to learn how we create those magical moments during a session, how it feels to be the focus of a professional photoshoot. And once you see yourselves, you’ll breathe a sigh of relief and know that if you look stunning in your engagement photos, you’ll be fabulous in your wedding photos!
A time to meet:
Many couples choose to meet afterwards for their “story planning” meeting where we discuss all the nitty gritty details of the day. We can enjoy dinner, drinks, or dessert together and mentally prepare to tell your story in pictures!!
