Do I need a SECOND photographer?

When planning for a wedding, so many people ask -- do I really need to upgrade to an extra photographer? And the answer is, it really depends! It depends on the story you want your pictures to tell. What do YOU want to see when you open your wedding album?

I've had the privilege of shooting with some unbelievably talented photographers. When I lived near Chicago, I worked with a best friend for every.single.wedding. Megan + I just saw things differently. We split up tasks and tackled the things we're most passionate about and the best at. (Check her work out at maeviewphotography.com.)

This summer I've had the honor of being the SECOND shooter for the wonderfully talented Rochester, NY wedding photographer, Abigail Lynn (www.abigaillynnphotos.com). It has been so fun taking the back seat, so to speak, and finding all the additional ways to tell wedding stories while Abby is busy cranking out the most stunning portraits you've seen. It's been a joy working in tandem, and let's face it, for a wedding photographer, it takes some of the pressure off just knowing someone else is there capturing all of your moments.

All of these pictures are the view from my camera on Sunday in Rochester at the stunning Strathallan and the Century Club of Rochester as the SECOND photographer. It might top my list for locations in the area because it's such a beautiful mix of natural beauty, urban looks, and city views. I could not stop smiling the entire day! Plus, Jasmine, the coordinator for the day was just fantastic and really helped to personalize the day for the bride and groom and make the day run flawlessly.

So here are the top reasons I would recommend upgrading to a package that includes a SECOND photographer:

ONE:

More Relaxed: With two photographers at your wedding, your timeline can be more relaxed. We can actually be in two places at once, getting all the most important photos at the same time, leaving you with more time to ENJOY your day without stressing about a timeline.

TWO:

Different Vision: With two photographers, you get two completely different artists looking at the story of your day. Not only does this give you great variety in your gallery, but it also gives you two different perspectives on the day.

THREE:

Different Vision: With two photographers, you get two completely different artists looking at the story of your day. Not only does this give you great variety in your gallery, but it also gives you two different perspectives on the day.

FOUR:

Quantity: With two photographers, it is obvious that you will have MORE photos delivered in your gallery on your wedding day. It is literally double the photos you would receive if there is only one person.

FIVE:

Backup: With two photographers, there is more than one camera which means there is more than just ONE memory card. We all know technology is great, but sometimes it creates bigger headaches. But having a second photographer means there is more than one person there making sure that every part of your day is covered just.in.case. anything happens to the files on an SD card.

These are my TOP 5 reasons for upgrading to a second photographer. What is YOUR biggest reason for booking that second photographer? Were you happy you did?
